Advent is a special season for the Church — it is the time when the world prepares to celebrate anew the coming of Christ. Often, we lose sight of the point of this season because we get caught up in our preparations for Christmas and arrive at Christmas no more transformed than we were at the start of Advent.
A way that our ESM community is seeking to prepare for Jesus’ birth and experience true transformation in this powerful season is by engaging with a new program from Ascension Press, called Rejoice! Finding Your Place in the Advent Story. We will explore the places, meet the people, and experience the events that shaped the first Advent, and find our place in the story. By immersing ourselves in the environment that God’s people were living in as they prepared for the Messiah, we will experience this sacred season in a new way.
This year, as we journey through Advent with Rejoice! Finding Your Place in the Advent Story, we'll learn about the places, people, and events that shaped the story of the very first Advent and shape our own lives today.
Rejoice! will help you open your heart to the peace and joy of the Advent season as you prepare for the coming of Jesus this Christmas. We look forward to journeying with you.

Practicing GG (recovered – vaccinated) means excluding certain people from the liturgy - which we all suffer as a deeply unChristian practice. But practising GG is also a valuable act of charity towards those who come to celebrate the liturgy. We must care for one another. That is what the Lord Jesus expects from everyone. Therefore, nobody should feel entitled to run any (avoidable) risk that might endanger anyone anywhere, and in particular in our congregation. Consequently, the ESM asks all its members to acknowledge our Christian duty of loving regard for "our neighbour", and willingly to accept the Archbishop's regulations during the actual corona situation.
